Since I have been confined to this "boot", I am trying to find ways to entertain myself at home. Seems, as if I mostly have been making messes all around the house. The more pictures and paper I pull out, the more confused I become. At this point, I will have to say that Scrapbooking is more a chore than a fun experience. I find myself hurrying through it so I can clean up the mess that I have made. The fun part, of course, is looking at pictures of my grandchildren. It also is the saddest part, as it makes me even more homesick for them.
My next project while sitting is to gather all of the recipes that I have collected and somehow get them organized. Another project that will probably drive me crazy.
I have lots of books to read, but can't seem to get interested in reading for some reason.
Oh well....back to the scrapbook jungle.

The familiar sounds of swim team practice
Having a boot on my foot is making me slow down a little and figure out things to do while sitting down. It's funny, when you are busy, you want to have that time to sit down and read, or write, scrapbook, crochet, or just watch TV, but when you have the time to do those things, you want to be busy. Anyway....I am trying to not waste too much time while having to sit. This morning while drinking coffee and eating cereal, I listened to the sounds outside. The sound that brought back special memories were sounds from the swimming pool for swim team practice. Practice starts early for them and I could hear them cheering each other on. I could just picture the children just dragging out of bed getting to the pool with hair uncombed, trying to wake up, not sure if they wanted to get in that cool water or not. Although I have never been a swimmer, I am so thankful that John, Jason and Sharon learned to swim and don't have a fear of water. Have some special memories of Swim Teams, some good and some not so good.

This thing is hot and I don't mean that it in a sexy way!
I can't believe I am still complaining about my foot. It has been six months and I am ready to get over this. I got the results of my MRI and am happy to report that I don't have to have surgery. Nothing was torn which is good. I do have to wear this very hot boot for three weeks. The doctor seems to think this will take care of all of the problems, if I stay off of my foot as much as possible. The results of the MRI were Plantar Fasciatis, heel spur, sprained ankle and a stress fracture in my heel.
I am still planning on having lunch with my friend, Sandy today. Guess shopping afterward is out though. I can't drive with the boot on, and it is a pain to take it off and on. This boot would have felt better in the winter to help keep me warm instead of the summer to help make me sweat more.

THE SANDS OF TIME
Just celebrated my 59th birthday and what a fitting place to be while celebrating. The Great Sand Dunes National Park. As Sam and I were traveling, I kept thinking about my years and what I have accomplished in those years. For some reason, I just kept feeling like I need to do more to make each day count. We couldn't decide if we really wanted to make another stop before we got home as we were tired from the drive, but Sam decided we should stop at the Great Sand Dunes National Park, since we might not pass that way again. What an adventure that was! The Sand Dunes are the tallest dunes in the United States and there is no beach. The dunes are at the base of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and there is a creek, called Medano also at the base of those mountains. The dunes are formed by the interaction of wind and water over time. The dunes cover 30 square miles. Just think about how this began with a little sand blowing and in time forming a beautiful masterpiece.
I don't know what this year holds for me but am so thankful to have Sam by my side encouraging me every step of the way.

Count your Blessings
tablecloth made from old hankerchiefs
"Count your blessings, name them one by one".....I have so many, and today was a day with many blessings to count. Our prayer group, Jane, Eulalie,Leslie, Suzanne & myself decided to have a Tea Luncheon for some ladies. What a Blessing! Enjoyed all the conversation of where they were born, how they met their husbands, just listening to them and just taking it all in and learning from them. Jane hosted our little luncheon in her beautiful home. (Talking about a hostess with the mostess.....she is it!). What a wonderful month so far...getting to spend time with my family and then spend time with some of the most wonderful women I have ever met.

Little Cousins and brothers and sisters
I am getting settled again in Colorado but thinking a lot about my trip to North Carolina. It was so wonderful getting to spend time with all of my children and grandchildren. One thing that I noticed while visiting was the love the grandchildren have for each other and for their other cousins too. I have so many special memories growing up being close to my cousins. Will, Ellie, Byrum, Mia and Ben are establishing those special times together which they will remember fondly.

More Spring in the Rockies
I was going to post another picture of the snow this morning, but just look at the last ones I posted and that is what it looks like this morning except for the fact that it is still snowing. I was talking to someone yesterday in Charlotte and she was telling me about having her bathing suit on and it being almost 90 degrees. (Save some of that heat for me when I come to visit) I will write a little more later. Enjoy your warm weather in the south, it is still winter here!
