Where's the Moose?

Feeling a little more rested today from all of our travels and was just thinking about the ongoing hunt for a moose. When we planned our trip to Powderhorn, I didn't realize that we would be in "moose" territory. As we were driving to the place we were staying I noticed a road sign that said "Moose Crossing". I thought, this was going to be the time that I would actually see a Moose. My eyes were always looking for a Moose every time we got into the car. To my disappointment, I didn't see a moose. I was told they do come out and sometimes cross the road in front of cars, but they were hiding while we were in their territory.

As we were traveling one day going into Utah, I noticed a sign alongside the road that said "Watch for Eagles on the road". Okay....can't find a moose, so I will defintely see eagles! Yeah!!!!! The only thing I saw along side the road was a dead lizard.

Okay, while Aunt Catherine and Joy were here, Sam and I told them they would get to see lots of elk when we went to the Rocky Mountain National Park. Guess what! We looked all over for the elk....where were they? We were in the area for two days and we didn't see any elk....as we were leaving Estes Park out of the corner of my eye, I spotted the elk! Yeah! Sam slowed down and turned around to get a closer look. We got out of the car with great excitement to see the elk just hanging around. I was so happy to share that experience with Catherine and Joy.

As we traveled that day after visitng the Celestial Seasoning Factory, we were on our way home going through Golden, Colorado. Catherine noticed as we sat at a stop light that a huge elk was alongside the road getting ready to cross in front of us. The elk stopped, looked both ways, and crossed the busy street to get to the other side.

I haven't given up on spotting a moose one day. That will have to be on another one of our visits around Colorado I suppose.
